IT’S TIME FOR SOME SCALUSSEN!As promised, I’m very pleased to share the first ever sneak peek of THE FOREVER KING, Book 1 of the Scalussen Chronicles. This is the first look at a new Emaneska book in 6 long damn years, so I hope you enjoy this snippet.
In this installment, I brave the vicious hordes of squirrels in the local park to tell you about the three 99c / 99p book deals I’m running at the moment, and to give you an update on where I’m at with the new book in progress – The Forever King (Scalussen Book 1). Watch out for all the critters in the background.
Now that good old Game of Thrones has come to an end (at least in TV form), no doubt there are many of you out there that are hungry for more epic fantasy. To help you out, I thought I would put together a list of fantasy books that feature similar elements to A Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice & Fire, books that are sure to scratch that itch for more fantastical adventure.
I explore some more of the wilds and wildlife of Vancouver Island in preparation for the British Columbia-inspired fantasy trilogy I’m writing after the Scalussen Chronicles. Bears? Check. Eagles? Check. Big ole trees? Check.
I’m back with another episode of the Fantasy Author Lounge, and this month I’m joined by none other than Michael J. Sullivan – USA Today, New York Times, and Washington Post bestselling author.
He’s the mind behind the Legends of the Final Empire, the Riyria Chronicles, the Riyria Revelations, Hollow World, and I’m thrilled to have him pop into the Lounge!
Here’s more information on this Friday’s release of my new Emaneska short story – No Fairytale.

It’s been a damn exciting start to the year for me, what with Grim Solace out and The Written becoming an Amazon bestseller. It’s been hella busy, too, organising the rapid release of Chasing Graves and kicking off the new Emaneska Series, and they haven’t left me with a lot of time to keep you readers up to date. So, as it’s high time I did, I thought I would head down to frigid Victoria Harbour, brave the crowds of geese, and put together a new BenCast for you all about what madness I’ve got

I thought I’d put together a BenCast all about my plans for a rapid release of Chasing Graves. In case you missed the news on Twitter and Facebook, I’ll be releasing the whole trilogy between December and March 2019. That means less waiting, more fantasy. It’s something I’ve never attempted before, but am having fun with the challenge of doing three launches back to back. Find out more about the when and the why in the vlog!In the meantime, the launch of Book One – Chasing Graves – is only a
In this latest BenCast, I go through my 1-star reviews. Yep. You read that right. I go toe to toe with the lowest of the low ratings. From my debut The Written to the newest book The Heart of Stone, here’s why people don’t like my stories or my writing. You can’t win them all I think it’s always useful to look at both good and bad reviews. Sometimes they’re constructive and useful, so never wise to dismiss just out of hand. I found it quite entertaining to dig these up and look through. If you

The second map for Chasing Graves has finally been finished! I’ve put together a time-lapse of how I created the second Chasing Graves map – the city map of Araxes, the City of Countless Souls. This was a tough project due to the amount of detail involved, taking far longer than the previous world map, but I’m incredibly pleased with how it finally turned out. It took far more digital jiggery pokery than usual, which meant I learnt some new skills along the way. Now it’s done, I think it’ll go
The Chasing Graves December launch is hurtling towards us. I’ve been working hard this month, and now that the writing is done, the cover art is almost ready, and the release date has been set, it’s time to get the maps done. There’ll be two maps in each book of the Chasing Graves Trilogy, one for the overall world and one for the city of Araxes, which I’ll be tackling next week. I’m going for a Medieval meets Egyptian style, and hopefully I’ve pulled it off.I’ve always drawn my own maps, and
Feast your eyes on the highlights of the Terrible Ten Con! Here’s what a fantastic group of authors and I got up to last weekend down in Luray, Virginia. Ladies and gentlefolks, I have the privilege, nay the honour, to introduce my guest for today’s interview. He’s a formidable chap you may have heard of before, and he’s managed to spare a moment from the Hartlund civil war to talk to me. Weighing in at two tonnes, he’s the saviour of Hartlund, the scourge of the Malar Dorah, the destroyer extraordinaire, the stone stoic, the rumble with no crumble… it’s Task of Wind-Cut!BG:Welcome, Task, sir. Please make yourself comfortable. Thank you for
