The Chasing Graves December launch is hurtling towards us. I’ve been working hard this month, and now that the writing is done, the cover art is almost ready, and the release date has been set, it’s time to get the maps done.
There’ll be two maps in each book of the Chasing Graves Trilogy, one for the overall world and one for the city of Araxes, which I’ll be tackling next week. I’m going for a Medieval meets Egyptian style, and hopefully I’ve pulled it off.
I’ve always drawn my own maps, and have done for all my books previously. It’s a knack I picked up when I was a kid, when I used to spend all my free time inventing fantasy worlds. It’s apparently paid off! Now mapmaking is one of my favourite stages in the publishing process, and so I thought I’d make a vlog about how I do it, while showing off the new Chasing Graves map at the same time. Enjoy!
